A mystery of a song, but very Denki Groove. Seven full minutes of seemingly meaningless lyrics, sound effects, and a fun beat. 2000’s VOXXX is generally a pretty good album, even if it’s a bit more on the experimental side compared to some of the band’s other albums (save for “Nothing’s Gonna Change,” there’s a dearth of real pop singles).

There are rumors on the internet that this song was banned from radio airplay in Japan due to “causing unease in listeners,” but I can’t substantiate this claim. Fun to think it might be true, but also I don’t know who in their right mind would play this song in the first place.

 A Japanese idol singer.
Peaches. I’m leaving it as-is because of the fact that it’s in the previous name.
A bodhisattva primarily revered in East Asian Buddhism and usually depicted as a Buddhist monk. Kṣitigarbha is known for his vow to take responsibility for the instruction of all beings in the six worlds between the death of Gautama Buddha and the rise of Maitreya, as well as his vow not to achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied.
Maybe a nod to Coppe Hasegawa? She was a child star turned radio personality turned DJ/electronic music producer.
Potentially a reference to the TV program Waratte Iitomo? Literally ‘Dai-Nippon Teikoku Iitomo’ in Japanese.
A reference to Japanese pop duo Chage and Asuka, with the ‘and’ in their name being mistakenly recognized as a name separately.
A combination of “Antonio Inoki” and “Giant Baba.”
 Lit. ‘shi ni ga mi.’
One of the protagonists of the play The Blue Bird.
A Japanese expression for people who lack full-time employment.
Lower parts of town, often refers to a specific part of Tokyo.
These lines rhyme in Japanese. I can’t render it in English faithfully, so I’m not going to try.
