URBAN DANCE – KISS X KISS (1986)

lyrics by HINAKO YOSHIDA | music by GINJI ITO

Mid-80s J-Pop produced by Hosono, because of course Hosono is involved in some way or another. The lead singer, Narita Shinobu, later went on to become a producer in his own right, working with idol groups. In their time together Urban Dance only released two albums, though Narita Shinobu’s solo work (simply under the name SHINOBU) is pretty interesting stuff as well.

Translation and notes under the cut:

You hate me so much
You won’t even show me your face
Even though both awake and asleep
My heart is filled with thoughts of you

Hey! This beautiful moonlit night
Hey! Suits the two of us
Won’t you come outside?

I want my knees to be
the seat you use
So open up your door
And if I was the perfume you sprayed on your ears
I’d be so much happier
So open up your door

Since the day I first saw you smile
Your red lipstick standing out
Against a black dress, open on your chest
I haven’t taken a single breath

Hey! Since Cupid will fire
Hey! An arrow from the bow of love
Won’t you come outside?

I want my fingers to be
What you use to comb your hair
So open up your door
And if I was the stockings you wore on your legs
I’d be so much happier
So open up your door

KISS KISS
Because I won’t stop
KISS KISS
Looking through that peephole
Won’t you come outside?

I want my knees to be
The seat you use
So open up your door
And if I was the perfume you sprayed on your ears
I’d be so much happier
So open up your door

I want my fingers to be
What you use to comb your hair
So open up your door
And if I was the stockings you wore on your legs
I’d be so much happier
So open up your door

I want my knees to be
The seat you use
So open up your door
And if I was the perfume you sprayed on your ears
I’d be so much happier
So open up your door
