lyrics by YASUSHI AKIMOTO | music by MAKOTO MITSUI
Another one of those sad Christmas songs about heartbreak and all that. This topped the Otacon charts when it came out in the early 90s and has been pretty famous since then. Side note – Inagaki is actually a drummer and not just a singer! You can see him play drums in some other videos of him performing hits (I recommend “A Dozen Excuses”).
Translation and notes under the cut:
When the Christmas Carols flow
That’s when both of us can give our answers
When the Christmas Carols flow
Who loves who? Even if not clear now
Even though if you had just reached out a bit
You would have gotten though
You were short by a millimeter
A disagreement in love
We understood too much about each other
And our hearts could never look away
Until I can hear the Christmas Carols
I’ll go back to before we met and be freer than ever
Until I can hear the Christmas Carols
I want to think about what’s important to me, alone
Having someone close to you
Is always warm and comforting, but
Since the two of us can’t embrace
I’ll wrap myself in a blanket instead…
It seems like you only understand the support
Of those close once you’re away from them
When the Christmas Carols flow
That’s when both of us can give our answers
When the Christmas Carols flow
Who loves who? Even if not clear now
When the Christmas Carols flow
On what version of us will the snow fall?
When the Christmas Carols flow?
On what version of us will the snow fall?
